Research interests:

  • Annotation of metagenomic data sets
  • Analysis of metabolic potentials of microbial communities

I joined the Hallam lab in September 2008 as an Honours student, working with David Walsh to predict and comparatively analyze the metabolic potential of entire microbial communities given libraries of metagenomic data. This entailed the use of Pathway Tools to predict the presence of metabolic pathways and Cytoscape to visualize and compare these interactions between these libraries. In September 2009, I returned as a Co-op student, working on further improving the workflow I had previously worked on for my Honours project to produce annotations of a quality suitable for submission with minimal amounts of manual curation, as well as to produce novel analyses for the metabolic potentials of microbial communities.
